The Beatles 'Day in the Life' from Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club was the last ever track to be played on Big L on August 14th 1967... Then the 'Big L Sonowaltz' as featured. Then silence for what was probably the best Radio station that Great Britain has ever heard...

Holy Moly!..38 years after this went out at precisely 11 minutes past 4 I was listening to The Four Seasons " I've got you under my skin". Spooky!

Thank you for uploading this - tho' you might like to know it is from 30 August 1982, not 1983.

The evidence: there is a report of the death of Ingrid Bergman, who died on 29 August 1982. It evidently didn't leak until Monday. Also Blackburn says they'll be back to 1982 as normal the next day.

There is also a news report of Arafat leaving Palestine for Greece - which the BBC website says was on 30 August 1982 - and a short mention of the last day of the Notting Hill Carnival.
