Peter Young: Capital Radio 2 December 1985

Peter Young on Capital Radio, 2 December 1985 - a sort of companion piece to a Kenny Everett beakfast show recorded on the same day. This was at the time when Capital almost became an FM rock station and, I guess it's open to debate, but you may feel the music on PY's drive time is better than Kenny's at breakfast. Let me know what you think! Here's Kenny's show: https://www.mixcloud.com/BJleDJ/kenny-everett-breakfast-show-capital-radio-december-1985/

Love the 1 minute jingle (theme) used towards the end as Peter signs off.
Anyone have a clean copy of this. Various versions of this but this one was by far the best. Mike Dickin played it very much

Shortly before this, of course, Peter Young had a brief stint away from Capital at the newly-launched Radio Mercury.

Yes, it's conceivable that some of the smaller ILRs might have thought "our audience don't care about *that* or *them*" re. the first song here. Much to be regretted if so. It is, however, on a Radio 1 offair from the following day on my channel, though maybe only because they had to play it (it was the chart).

An odd opening 20 minutes with Sun City - which I don't recall getting much provincial airplay - followed by Animal Nightlife's very agreeable, but scarcely huge Mr. Solitaire from the previous year. Then two flops from Katrina and the Cars - although the latter was a great cut from Heartbeat City. I wonder what the thinking was?
