Emma Welton's Sound Walk with and for people with Autism

Emma Welton has composed a Sound Walk with and for autistic people, particularly those who are sensitive to sound. In this podcast she shares the evolution of the piece through a series of conversations and walks in her neighbourhood.
Emma is composing two Sound Walks each month from June 2020 - May 2021 in her suburban Exeter neighbourhood. In autumn 2020 a series of conversations with Sound Walk participants led to the creation of a Sound Walk composed with autistic people in mind. In this podcast Emma talks with some of her co-listeners about the music of our shared habitat, and shares their attempt to shape a Sound Walk that will be accessible for people who are wary of sound.
You can view and download the map of the Sound Walk ‘UP BARLEY MOUNT, EXETER, November 2020’ - link below.
This podcast and walk was commissioned by AWE with support from Arts Council England and funded by players of the National Lottery - thank you!
