About the show

Playing tracks by

Marshall Jefferson, Cameo, Throwdown, Gwen Guthrie, MR. FINGERS and more.

Here's the B-side. This was the 3rd attempt to incorporate house music in my mixtapes as the sound steamrollered the soul scene. If you notice, the Marshall Jefferson track is the instrumental version. Remember, before the 'Summer of Love '88, many of the big house tracks were essentially funky-ass instrumentals & the House Music Anthem was no different. It was only once the genre gathered momentum, more Djs were picking up the tunes that the vocal versions got played more.
Mr Fingers' seminal 'Can You Feel It' was re-released with a a new vocal track, but the original will always sound better to me. Well, it was the first house track I actually ran out to buy after I'd heard it & I'd heard a LOT of it before then...........

Super, loved it Gwen and Maurice tracks were stand outs for me. I am assuming that it was Maurice White of E.W.F. and lots of other projects. what a voice I have always been a huge fan of E.W.F.. his brother Verdine was also a member. never heard that version of "Stand by Me" before, loved it.,,, did you manage to fit Thin Lizzy in there somewhere, I was listening but could no find it, Thanks for the sunshine in an otherwise dismal day Alph. had a nice time listening in, be good catch you up again soon,

Thanks , really appreciate that you enjoyed it :) You're a great 'caster so I know your support is from the heart
Yes, it was Mr White from the very same group. It was the lead single from his solo LP (my brother has that, I've got the 12").
The Thin Lizzy is part of a series of scratch/samples dropped in during 'Jack the Groove'. I sometime get a little anal wrt crediting/listing stuff - I really should lighten up.......
Anyways, glad to spread a little sun your way (not that you need it, Flower). Take care

Really cool. I love your mix. Whiz Kid ft. Globe is a classic for me. Mr. Fingers same as you. What a great track. Maybe you want to listen to my little drummer mix. I tried mixing some early 90's tracks.

Alph my friend, you clearly have a great deat to express, both in music & conversation. Your need to explore does come across in some of your selections. If it feels right to you, then it probably is.
