Another one from the mix archive... I've actually got the original text I sent out to unsuspecting email subscribers which I've pasted below.
Some of you might know I took the decision last year to leave my full time job in HR (oh yes!) and do a bit of it part time, 9 – 5 style, and a bit of “proper” music-making – the idea being to develop what skills I had and hopefully pick up some new ones. I think they used to call it ‘woodshedding’! Anyways, a year on and I’ve been offered an extra day in the office – I can’t refuse despite the reduction in my beatmaking time, but hey, as one door closes etc. etc.
I felt like I ought to mark the occasion so I dug out the CDJs (the Technics are still packed up after the house move) and put together a mix of the tracks I’ve been playing most recently and over the past few months. Nothing fancy, just a live and unplanned mix, taking in hip hop, funk, soul, disco, house, broken - what you might get it if you caught me DJing "in the flesh"!
