Jumping The Gap Show 1 Aug 2012
Thank Zeus it's almost over. The London Olympics that is. As this went to air, we were still in the thick of its incessant media claptrap & success tallying. So, 90-mins of sports-free, anti-corruption, unsponsored, uncensored, commentary-minimal, pro-steroid grooving, kicking off with British '70s fusionists 'The Olympic Runners' (on the 'London' label no less). No broken records here, we prefer to play ‘em. No lane tracks, just music ones. No gold medals, just soulid-gold jams. Curtis Mayfield's at the finishing line with a winner & an ultra-rare 7" by Land Doggies gets pumped by Rahaan midway. Our tally: 20 golds, sorry no Sylvers & some Mahogany rather than bronze, who Ride The Rhythm around the boogie velodrome. Lowrell Simon tests positive for a love Overdose in the steamroom, while achieving her PB is Janet Dubois who hasn't been seen on our screens since playing Wilona in TV sitcom 'Good Times'. Whoa, she's DY-NO-MITE! Ready-set-go. xx Paris
