Jumping The Gap Show 13 February 2013
Celebrating the 2013 Sydney Mardi Gras season, this week was JTG's 1st LGBTransmission simulcast on a new temporary pop-up digital station bought to you bi 2SER, Melbourne's Joy FM & local (d)rag The Star Observer. So we yanked out some disco, including Frank & James' soulful "How Long Is Forever" (featured on the new Al Kent Disco Love 3 comp out this month) & an edit by safe-sex advocate Anna Phylactic of Sil Austin's "Disco Lady". Later, some joyous, gospel-influenced African & Latin rhythms, but not before leaping on to the LTG Exchange band's "Waterbed" (where Scarbrough had already advised they were planning to: "Make Love To You"). Apart from the usual funky stuff in this non-stop 80-minute mix, we also forewarned of an impending Jumping The Gap '80s Special by popping a Heaven 17 bass-ecstasy pill & a couple of Paul & Linda McCartney's 80s' Wings productions including closer "Goodnight Tonight"... What a 12 inch! Cheers - Paris
