Go-Go Locomotive: Back It On Up, but mind the gap!
This week a funky caboose called "Go-Go Get Down" from Joey Negro's Z rolled in, with a cargo of party starters from the Washington DC scene where hiphop, funk, boogie-jams & electro coupled at the hands of trackworkers like Chuck Brown, Rare Essence & Experience Unlimited. So, in the last hour of the show (which is all you get here) we mixed up a few of our faves from the 2-CD set, including Donald Bank's furious reganomics rap about the Stateside status quo under the presidency of Hollywood cowboy Ronald McDonald Regan & his offsider Vice-villan George W.H. Bush. "This old [pair] has got to go..." go! We kicked off the hour though with Dawn & Sunset's funky advice 'Move In The Room' & a Freestyle label flashback. Later as E.U. rounded out the Go-Go set, the ghosts of ol' soul voices coloured modern hip hop beats, before some wigged-out synth c/- Pee Wee Ellis & Marley-goes-Brazilian bananas. xx Paris
