Jumping The Gap Show 11/(0)07/2012
One of our fave film characters, James Bond is celebrating his 50th anniversary at the moment & right on cue a cute new 7" from US label Killer Funk credited to Dr No. & The Cuban Mafia arrived in the PO box this week... "What purrrrrfect timing!" (as Pussy Galore might say). We therefore bookended today’s show with Bond tunes (including the dub version of Wings' Live & Let Die theme released on Groovescooter a few years ago for the album, 'Re-fashioned 007: James Bond Goes Undercover'). In betwixt, today’s dossier includes big band mayhem & calypso rhythms (Ian Fleming & Bond loved Jamaica, cocktails & tropical shirts), Latin shakers, missions into disco, funk & soul territories, plus reactivated files from Little Richard, to new cases by Melbourne's fresh-outta-skool funk assassins, The Cactus Channel. Again, show intro is missing - but my chatter can often do with a silencer. Best wishes for your weekend. xxx Paris (Bagshot of course).
