Deano Martin on Growing Annual Grains

Deano Martin on Growing Annual Grains

Playing tracks by

The Mohawks, Tommy Dark, Elvis Presley, Jimmy McGriff and Rufus Thomas.

Permaculture's vision of living from perennials seems a long way off, as most of the carbohydrates eaten around the world come in the form of annual grains like wheat, rye, oats & barley in Europe or maize, millet, sorghum or rice in the global south.

Deano Martin wants to work out how to feed the world , and has gone back to college in an effort to Permaculturize annual grains, by researching how we could grow them with no additional inputs (the Permaculture holy grail).
Listen to his story, his ideas and how he's getting on.

Check out his blog here http://sustainablesmallholding.org/ and connect with his Facebook Page www.facebook.com/TheSustainableSmallholding

And here's a couple of books he recommends on the subject http://bit.ly/1JOeg8a & http://amzn.to/1J3Arl6

Like the themes in these radio shows, then come along to the International Permaculture Conference in London in September www.ipcuk.events
