Playing tracks by
Moondog, Nancy Jacobs and Her Sisters, Dionysis Savopoulos, Nicole Willis And The Soul Investigators, Tulipa Ruiz and more.
Tonight we fade in with a tune by street viking musician Moondog, written in memory of Charlie Parker; up next is a 50s South Africa township tune with Nancy Jacobs and Her Sisters; urban greek singer Dionysis Savvopoulos; and for the three last tracks of the first half, we got three gorgeous female singers: the Finland-based soul singer Nicole Willis; brazilian Tulipa Ruiz; and mexican Carla Morrison.
Keeping the rhythm alive, we start the second half with lovely Xanadu’s disco rap; then go down to southern hemisphere with Nereu São José’s slacker samba; then, directly to France, with the lovely Notre Dame; back to Brazil with Wanda Sá’s version of a Carlos Lyra hit; then we dive into a proto-mashup between brazilian Clementina de Jesus and icelandic Múm; and fade out with an optimistic Mercury Rev tune.
