These tracks were released in the years leading up to the new millennium, so perhaps these days they can almost be considered as “classic”. I’m no expert on contemporary dance sub-genres so to me it’s simply an updated form of disco music (at least one track uses a sample of a disco record, and two more are disco-era covers).
It’s mostly all fairly well known stuff (which I hope won’t put you off listening) that I for one think has stood the test of time so far. I make no apology for including the Steps track – not only is it far superior to the Bee Gees original, it also brings back fond memories as an omnipresent club anthem when I first experienced the Manchester nightlife back in those days.
I’ve posted a pastiche of a well-known fast food chain’s “arches”, as in an unlikely and probably redundant display of wit they used two of them on their posters hailing the new millennium in Roman numerals, the irony being that many of their customers almost certainly failed to “get it”!
