We Have Come For Your Children ~ NME024
By vinyl escape
Throughout the 80's the British music newspaper NME (New Musical Express) gave away a series of 'free' compilation cassette tapes with many of their monthly issues. Almost entirely, they were compiled by Roy Carr, a renowned English music journalist and writer, with a little help from some friends. I collected many of these tapes from '81 until about '87. and they introduced me to a lot of new music that I'd not heard before. Sadly, in the years since they've either been eaten, stolen, lost, given away, lent (and never returned!), or just fallen to pieces in my hands! Luckily, I had the foresight to preserve carefully my favourite six.
Odd title and cover for this great little collection of mid/late sixties freakbeat/psych/garage sounds. I think it may have been a combination of a 'borrow' from the Dead Boys album of '78 and a nod to the film 'Watership Down' of the same year? HaHaHa! ;o)
