In the Mods book Richard Barnes provides as accurate a portrayal as you are likely to find of the life and times that were the background to the mod movement. With the benefit of first hand accounts from original mods, he recounts the ideals, aspirations and boundless ingenuity that were integral to mod.

One of the main attractions of the book was, of course, the great selection of images of original mods. These photos would provide profound inspiration to the young mods who carried on the movement in the 80's and were a major influence in the direction of the Mod revival, which transformed from it's punk inspired beginings into a far more stylish and musically aware scene - in this form it continues to thrive today.

Ranging from Pop, Blues, R&B, Soul, Ska, Rock & Roll and Surf, the exceptional variety of sounds listened to by mods are displayed by the discography in the Mods book. These sounds are what set mods apart and are a vivid demonstration of their phenominal good taste

Ben Sherman & Paisley shirts, Sta Prest Trousers, Tonic Suits, Loafers, Fred Perry Polos, Tootal scarves, Parka Jackets, customised scooters are all a regular site in Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Camden Market. The hipsters wearing this clobber weren't even born when Paul Weller was singing the mighty SMALL FACES covers by his idol Steve Marriot. The Mod look is cool, clean cut and stylish and the music that accompanies it is fantastic.
I must say this is a BRILLIANT MIX, so diverse and full of classic GEMS, a few not so well known and a some new finds for me – which I always love. As a ‘MOD SOULBOY’ this mix was particularly up my street. THANKS FOR THE SHARE. WICKED :)

I grew up in the 80's and being a modgirl was the only chance to survive between ugly clothing, hairstyle and terrible music. I bought my clothes on the fleamarket. In the 80 's it was still possible to get original clothes from the sixties. My mum wasn't very happy about it, because they had a smell of mothball. :) I am happy that even now 30 years later, there are still young people keeping the spirit alive !!!!
