On the eve of 2012, here's the first part of this year's look back at some of the big releases of 2011. With each record picked by a Jazz Meet DJ, this first selection features both personal favourites and tracks tried and tested on the Jazz Meet dancefloor, and can be said to have a definite British lean to it. The Kit Downes Trio kick off the mix with a sublime excerpt off their excellent 'Quiet Tiger' album, which is swiftly followed by tracks from the Pierre Anckaert Trio and Examples of Twelves. A little spiritual segment with music from UK beatsmith Rise and two of the bigger records of the year from the Gondwana stable and Matthew Halsall and Nat Birchall. Gérard Maimone and Tom Harrell lead us further into fiery jazz territory before a highlight from Austin Peralta's Brainfeeder debut rears it's head. We round things off with a unreleased gem from the Bruno Spoerri Allstars and two popular dancefloor staples this year from the Colman Brothers and Sunlightsquare.
