When we started this mix series one of concerns was that it shouldn't just turn into an endless parade of tasteful disco mixes. Nothing wrong with that of course but there's a whole wide world of music out there to explore.
So swiftly following on from Simon Carr's amazing industrial/ambient set last week we're delighted to host this new mix from Radioolio.
I've long been a fan of the collective's wondrously eclectic (and now defunct) night at 93 Feet East, where you could hear everything from Thai pop and wild jug-band funk to new age hypnagogic synthscapes, mind-bending Indian ragas, Gypsy speed brass and lo-fi agit-punk.
This weekend they're throwing one of their Rock n Rolio parties so we asked them to leave the space jazz behind for once and do us a proper rock n' roll mix to get us in the hip swinging mood.
If you like what you hear, then check out Rock n Rolio (Moustache Bar, Stoke Newington) this Saturday (June 5th, 2010).
