Shure Sessions
Chris Coco presents... Melodica Special - featuring the Shure Sessions
The Shure Sessions are a new concept designed to showcase the quality and versatility of Shure's USB microphones and professional headphones, whilst also making some brilliant music in the process.
The first session brings together broadcasting and DJ'ing supremo, Chris Coco, and talented vocalist and musician, Ali Love, for an exclusive acoustic session in Coco's kitchen.
As part of Chris' popular Melodica radio show, which is available on-demand on Mixcloud every week, the pair decided to see if a broadcast quality session could be created using only a couple of pieces of Shure's kit.
Listen to the awesome acoustic session from upcoming talent Ali Love, recorded live from Chris Coco's kitchen using the Shure microphone and headphones!
Interview with Chris Coco and Ali Love:

Chris was impressed by the results; "It all went very well. We set up Ali in the kitchen, he sang into the Shure mic, wore the flagship headphones, played his electric guitar and fiddled with his drum machine. I encouraged him a bit, counted him in and recorded everything on my computer".
Ali Love elaborated on some of the instruments involved in the session, "I used an old DMX drum machine I got of a friend a while back. You can hear the DMX in some of Arthur Russell's stuff, it's great, you can get lots of echo on it and make really cool sounds, and then just my guitar, and that was it". He also shared Chris' the enthusiasm for the Shure kit, "I thought it was a great sounding mic and very comfy and honest sounding headphones, I've got to get some of them myself actually".

As for the tech itself, Paul Crognale from Shure explained that the microphones used were their new entry level condenser studio models - the PG42 and PG27 - aimed at semi-professional musicians and home recordists. While for the headphones, Shure's top-of-the-line SRH840 headphones were used, in much the same way as they are currently being utilised to record Elbow's latest album.
Paul saw the session as the perfect combination of great kit, great music and a great host, commenting; "we believe Mixcloud has the perfect audience of DJ's/Home producers/Podcasters interested in our latest products which were used for these recordings".
After such a positive start, Shure hope to record similar sessions with many of the other pioneering artists and shows on Mixcloud. "The best bit was that lovely feeling that you get when someone plays live. There's a great energy. And it's wonderful to be able to capture a special moment in a quality way and share it with people on the radio show" added Chris.
