On The Whole Nine Yards on the 29th March we featured two big themes close to my heart - the Southend/Canvey Island rock scene from the Seventies with Dr Feelgood, Eddie & the Hot Rods, the Kursaals, the Hamsters and their origins in Procul Harum and Robin Trower - plus a couple of tracks from the funniest group in music, Viv Stanshall and the Bonzos. You’ll hear about how Gary Brooker, Robin Trower and Viv Stanshall all went to my school and I used to travel on the same bus as Wilko Johnson. I also featured some of the best drinking songs in the rock genre and listened to some Gil Scott-Heron, the greatest poet in music. What’s the connection between Tom Waits and Rod Stewart? Listen and see. Join in by emailing me at roy.stannard@seahavenfm.com Live every Thursday via www.seahavenfm.com 7-9pm
