DJ Dave Crane took the Bench Warehouse DJ competition finals by storm.
"I’m over the moon! It’s such an amazing feeling to win out of the hundreds of other talented DJ’s from around the world!"

Bloc Winner: Dodgerman
Our BLOC Make Music competition last February belonged to Dodger Man aka Sam Cassman...
His initial reaction to winning was shock and according to Sam, "BLOC was insane and surreal' , festivalling in Butlins with the likes of Kode9 and the ManMakeMusic crew. Following technical hitches, he pulled off an old school Dubstep/Garage set to a hype crowd.
Since then he has focused on production, with a few releases under his belt. Be sure to check out the promo mix.
S&D Winner: Murdok
Former Tomb Crew member, Murdock swept away the Stag and Dagger Competition.
After that he's played abroad and up and down the UK at nights such as Bigger Than Barry, Deadly Rhythm and Night Slugs amongst others.
After the success of his Stag And Dagger mix, he added another volume to the HotOne Ten mix series. Be sure to check out his 30 minute mix fusing an eclectic selection of 2 step, grime and bass.
Braindrop Winner: DJ Vesper
Lee Smart (aka Vesper) graced the decks of The Box at Minstry of Sound and Room 2 at Matter after winning the Braindrop competition last year.
From that he has supported the likes of Sub Focus, Mistajam, Skepta and Nero.
He has also founded a new night (along with a couple of friends) called “Rhyme and Slang” at London’s Rhythm Factory. Their mission, to breathe new life into London’s bass scene.

MixedUp Winner: DMAX
Daniel (aka DMAX) won the Mixed Up Music winner back in July. Following on from his win, he’s been using Mixcloud to its full advantage.
With Mixcloud as his DJ calling card, he contacted the right people and managed to secure a gig at the most apocalyptic rave in the whole universe, Burning Man. DMAX also played at Secret Garden Party festival, UK this year.

Bench Winner: Rob Drake
After only two years as a DJ, this was the first mix competition Rob Drake entered and he won - making all that hard practice worth while!
He had a great day playing the artist arena at Parklife and commented - ' the hospitality from the guys and girls at Bench was second to none'
Since then things have gotten bigger & better for Rob, playing a set at Ministry of Sound over the summer, Sankeys (Manchester) and a securing a residency at FAC251 (formerly The Hacienda) for House / Electro night - Dyslexic.
BBE Winner: Chris Read
Former BBC Radio 1 Xtra DJ Chris Read has been a busy man since winning the BBE Competition! Working alongside a BBC New Urban Music award winning jazz outfit, he is in the studio working on an album featuring the lovely Lizzy Parks on vocals following a recent remix of one of Lizzy’s solo tracks. Keeping strong with his “The Diary” mixtape series, there are another 2 volumes on their way!
As if all that weren't enough, he’s about to launch a series of mixtapes / box-sets / clubs nights - "Classic Material", celebrating 30 years of recorded hip hop through music, design, photography and film!
DnB Arena Winner: Travelah
Travelah aka Travis Vachal managed to win the SW4 Drum and Bass competition and got the opportunity to play a set alongside a legend of the scene Andy C in London.
Receiving short notice that he'd won, with only 3 days to get to the UK from Arizona, USA. With no plane ticket but more importantly… no passport, the race was on! Traveling 5 hours to the passport office, booking a last minute ticket and asking his girlfriends mum to sub him the fare. Travis Landed on the Sunday morning, played SW4 and returned the following day!
GetDarker Winner: Jobiwan
Joe couldn't believe he'd won the first DJ competition he'd ever entered when he woke up to see the congratulating email, especially after listening through the other entries the night previously.
He said it was a massive experience playing in a big London club, supporting the likes of Plastician and Andy C, and Foreign Beggars.
Recently, he has just started university in London and is looking to start his own radio show and his hoping for a slot on GetDarker TV soon...

World Cup Winner: DJ Umb
DJ UMB compiled his world cup soundtrack Cloudcast following a pre tournament trip to South Africa. The winning mix was definitely a world beater, garnering support from the mighty Mad Decent blog.
Since then DJ UMB has been hitting the european festival scene, warming up a 6000 strong crowd for Gilles Peterson at ROSKILDE in Denmark and along with his blog partner, Vince The Prince, putting on a second GENERATION BASS festival in Holland.
The GB crew have released a compilation and set up a digi-label!
