Electronic music from 1989-93, influential for me at the period I started DJing, almost 20 years ago (1992).
The mix features key players from that era, such as 808 State, Andrew Weatheral with Sabres of Paradise, and Aphex Twin - the last two releasing for the pioneering Warp, as did B12 and Black Dog. It's amazing how fresh some of these tracks still sound today, since many of these musicians remain highly influential. Related memories from these years include: starting to DJ at Maldoror in Porto with my friend Ivo Martins and other excellent DJs; writing about music for a magazine I was co-editing, Quadrado; watching Young Gods live for the first time in 1990; lively discussions about music with my music connaisseur colleagues in Braga where I was studying; shopping compulsively for records in London and in Porto, at Valentim de Carvalho, Bimotor and Tubitek, where some great DJs/producers where working.
