The fourth mix in my series coverage Garage music (aka UK Bass in general) continues with some UK Funky, Fidget House & Bassline!
In Mid-200s, several garage producers decided to give Tribal House a Garage makeover. Enter UK Funky, a genre coined by Marcus Nasty which takes basically chops Tribal beats into 2-step beats along with added Soca and Grime leftovers. It's music for beach parties at places like Ayia Napa which is popular with the UKG crowd, and help give way to folks like Katy B and L-Vis 1990. Fidget House is basically Electro House meets UK Garage, and its Electro and Hip-Hop influences paves way for producers like Crookers into the scene. And the fact that it came the same time with UK Funky is the reason for its popularity. Bassline is cheesier. Think of Speed garage at 140BPM. Yup, that's Bassline. But it's also fun music for cokeheads, and since it's part of Garage, i must add some tunes as well. Next week is the last mix with some Future Garage!
