Ruben Vilas, aka MAUI, is a 26 year old DJ/Producer from Lisbon, Portugal, currently residing in Berlin, Germany. After almost 10 years of playing in dozens of Metal, Hardcore and Rock bands, and 2 years of learning all about production and DJing in clubs all over Portugal, he decided to quit his day job and move from Lisbon to Berlin to do what he loves, music and DJing.
Currently working on his two first EP's, MAUI mixes the hard bass side of Dubstep with African Music, which surrounded him most of his childhood, just to create hard, powerful, bass-driven music that will make you leave the club exhausted.
His DJ sets are based on his own musical genre, heavy bass Dubstep mixed with fast paced Afrobeat, always at frantic leveled Bpm's and his dancing on-stage is proof of that. In his sets there isn't much room for "greatest hits", only for music that drives him and makes him happy and that's what he tries to share with everyone.
