For almost two decades now, manuell from Zurich has been honing his musical skills with turntables, mixers, controllers and less obvious instruments of music reproduction. While producing classic vinyl or tractor-based mixes as “manuell”, he also plays a more live-oriented set using controllers, drum computers and the odd other piece of equipment under the name of “manuell maschinell”. In this configuration he explores what modern technology hast to offer and takes a step away from regular DJing. By indulging in the possibilities of realtime sampling, looping, tinkering, layering and filtering he comes up with his own plot lines or even creates his own music.
