This mix was recorded in August of 2004 with one turntable and a four-track cassette recorder. I only had one turntable at the time, but a mix was growing in my head and I didn't feel like waiting for a complete DJ setup, so I improvised. It kinda represents what I thought peak hour material should be at the time that I did it and was inspired by a pair of upstate New York functions: Sound Unity Project (July 2003) and Squeeshee (January 31, 2004).
While I'm thinking about it, I really ought to dedicate this one to the memory and living legacy of Josh Link, a man partially responsible for one of the great weekly functions on New York City's Lower East Side: RECESS at the Orchard Bar in 2003. I was fortunate enough to be one of the rotating residents there and I can honestly say that it was one of the happiest times of my life. What they say is true: you never know a good thing that you lose it. To Josh and Scott, I can't thank you both enough for the opportunity... Uploaded 8 months ago -
