Charity Shoppe is a club night run by John Humphrey and Ian McQuaid, a night created to celebrate the joy of second hand sounds. Armed with one simple rule- they will only play records that were pre owned and have cost less than 2 quid- the two have embarked upon a quest to scour the lands bargain bins, flea markets and, of course, charity shops, to find the finest, strangest and most wondrous sounds in the known world. This radio show documents their treasures.
In the very first show we take in West African Highlife, Scottish folk, wonky post punk covers, homemade ambient, Christian cults and 80s pop. Several mistakes are made and some of the records skip. All in a days work. Uploaded 1 year ago - Featuring tracks by Robin Hall & Jimmy McGregor, Ewan McColl & Peggy Seager, Fisherfolk, CK Mann, Indambinigi and more ![]() | ![]() |
