IDS Dangerous Ideas in Development Seminar: Better systems of Taxation
23 March 2011
Public revenue is central to good governance and development, and effective taxation systems have a pivotal role to play in reducing developing countries' dependence on international aid. There is a growing consensus across the developing world around the benefits of taxation.
At this event, the expert panel discussed how the UK can work with developing countries to implement better systems of taxation and assess how these systems can improve governance, lift millions out of poverty and reduce our own aid bill.
Chair: Ann McKechin MP
Rushanara Ali MP, Shadow Minister for International Development
Mick Moore, Chief Executive Officer, International Centre for Taxation and Development
