23 March 2011 Public revenue is central to good governance and development, and effective taxation systems have a pivotal role to play in reducing developing countries' dependence on international aid. There is a growing consensus across the developing world around the benefits of taxation. At this event, the expert panel discussed how the UK can work with developing countries to implement better systems of taxation and assess how these systems can improve governance, lift millions out of poverty and reduce our own aid bill.
