Bellboy Records
After battling aliens for the past five years, Producer/DJ Chris Cowie has come back to earth and relaunched his influential labels, Hook Recordings and Bellboy Records. Originally launched during the summer of 1993 and lasting for ten years, gained fans and admirers from across the dance music spectrum. As well as heavyweights like Oakenfold, Garnier, Tennaglia and Cox, they can also claim the legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel as an admirer, who played many of the labels releases on his show.
Both labels were widely renowned with a cutting edge, unique sound. Hook was credited for its supercharged Trance ethics, often emulated by other artists, while Bellboy's Tech House and Techno sound just had that certain something that appealed to those who liked their Techno lactose free, melodic and funky. Carl Cox said Cowie was "the master of funk techno” and Danny Tenaglia
described his music as "genius". Worthy praise indeed, but claims which Cowie himself would dispute vigorously.
