This is a mix I did way back in 89, inspired by the likes of Steinski's "History of Hip Hop" and Tommy Boy Megamixes which got me into the whole scene. Also the incredible Big Apple Productions 12"s and Coldcut's "Say Kids" were big influences. This was my attempt to do something similar, using a borrowed Tascam 4-track and building the mix up progressively using turntable mixing, scratching and even the good old "pause button edit". A few were given out on cassette and it was played on Black Country pirate stations like my own Rise FM and even our deadly rivals, The Bass Station. This is a recording from tape so the quality is a bit grimy but I hope you like it anyway..
