SoulSistas And SoulBruthas! This one is inspired by one of my favourite films, "Boogie Nights." You won't find a better flick about porn in the 70's. I highly recommend the soundtrack as well. If you've seen the film, you'll probably recognise the explanation of the very important TK-421 modification (Star Wars reference for the geeks) delivered by Buck, played by Don Cheadle. If not, you've gotta check out one of the greatest films ever made and find out why "Hi-Fidelity" are two of the most important things you can have in a stereo system. "That's the highest...quality...fidelity." All these tracks are taken from vinyl, and except for one, are all LP cuts so they are the full length versions. That means you'll get the FULL 11 minute side of Marvin's "Got To Give It Up," for instance.

The one's got a Funky/Disco kinda feel, perfect for blasting outside with a tasty beverage. SUMMER IS HERE!!!

Well, it's warmed up here in London, and we've got the perfect accompaniment to a steamy Friday morning under the air conditioning. We asked one of our favourite Mixcloud broadcasters Les Fisher aka jazfresh for this little mix and he doesn't disappoint. He constantly pulls out the rare gems and obscure cover versions on his own mixes and he continues much in the same vein on this killer selection. Easing us in with a little Terry Garthwaite, we get a great version of 'Loran's Dance' from Elmo Whiggett, beautiful fusion from Pepe Sanchez, 2-step soul from Betty Lou and then a little journey into soulful vocal territory with contributions from Johnny Otis, Nathen Page, Nimbus, Marvin Cabell and even The Doors (Tune!). There's a warning about the 'Snow Queen' on The City's psychedelic soul masterpiece, while Nuhket Ruacan and Norman Connors bring forth the heavy duty fusion. Egberto Gismonti closes the mix with his own take on 'Encontro do Bar'. Hope you enjoy!

SoulSistas And SoulBruthas! There seems to be countless ways these days to discover cool stuff and I ran across this project via Instagram. This cat, Roger Bong was doing record digs in Hawaii and sharing all these pics of really interesting records made on the Islands. Lucky for us, he's taken the time get the sounds from these records into the world. I hit up Roger and asked if I could share his mini-mix of this music with my peeps here. Got the OK and, well, here's the FAB, Pupu Mix! Can't tell you how BADASS this is. There's some seriously cool Rare Groove, Soul and Funk throughout. This is a preview to a bigger project coming later in the year with clothing company, Fitted Hawaii. Keep and eye out!
