Africa's music is intimidating - there's so much of it, it's so good, and it's EVERYWHERE. Seriously I am always surprised at the tiny countries getting funk compilation nods - the continent is like one massive meshed scene.
Because of this I'm going to divide and conquer, and cut my African content up into categories like genre, and definitely country by country. Thus a South Africa mix. Not every country could hold up an hour mix, but SA's African/West hybrid culture (the politics of which are discussed extensively elsewhere) has yielded a grip of great artists, some of which (BLK JKS, I'm talking to you) mix both worlds into one amazing product. I AM NOT SOUTH AFRICAN and am not even going to try to capture the essence of the rich music scene of the country in a mix - these are just songs from South Africa that I dig. And for Kwaito fans, there's none here but that's because I'll probably do a full Kwaito mix eventually. Anyway, enjoy and peace.
