Juan “El DJ Duro” Ortiz is a DJ/Producer born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. His start in the industry as his father’s assistant at the local radio station, “Radio Oro,” sparked a passion for music in him. His knowledge of music composition and radio broadcasting led to his career in music. At only 15 years old, he went on to DJ at local parties from Puerto Rico, to Miami, and most recently New York City.
Now a college student at Hofstra University, Duro produces and hosts an alternative spanish format radio program called “Tu Musica” on the world’s largest media market, New York. His success on the show has earned him several accolades at WRHU. With only a year of actual producing experience the young DJ has great potential in the industry. At 19 Duro has played in 3 major media markets, rubbed elbows with some of Spanish music’s foremost artists and still seeks to accomplish more.
