I've been having a dig through my collection recently and also chatting to a lot of friends about some of the classic house tunes we used to 'rave' to. It got me all dewey eyed and inspired to record a mix of my favourites from the era (early-mid 90s), but whilst selecting the tunes it transpired that a vast majority of them are produced by David Morales. No wonder - I thought he was GOD back then. I say 'back then' meaning before it all spiralled towards the fluffy bra/"sexy house'/'avin it in Ibiza kind of DJ worship. Everything he touched was dope (almost).
This is just a personal selection of some of my favourite remixes of his - obviously not an exhaustive collection. There are loads more I could have tried to squeeze in (the Red Zone stuff, etc), but I felt these flowed together well. Anyway, call it glassy eyed nostalgia, wistful sentimentality; cheesy even......I really enjoyed making this. And no sniggering at Jamiroquai or Mariah Carey - they were bangers in their day!
