Another year, another throwdown challenge. This time its "old skool"....which can be anything to everyone! Back to those hazy days (1990-1992) spent at all night raves and over crowded (and often over heated) nightclubs. Dj Rap used to start her sets with the Orb, so I feel OK about its inclusion here! The mix was done at home on decks with original vinyl probably purchased back in 91-92!
The soundclash at the end was concocted by me on my MPC, during my wife's viewing of Celebrity Big Brother one evening last week. Any clips of MCs have come from cassettes of either Evolution 91, NRG 91, Swing 92 or maybe even Apocalypse Now 91. The news snippet was the introduction to a segment about Vision at Popham airfield in the summer of 92... possibly the last major rave I went to. It was very crowded and very wet! Rave Safe! PS - this really is my era, I'm not some daft mulleted oik from Shoreditch buying up rave 12"s off ebay in a bid to be trendy or ironic.
