No hype, no bullshit, no inane PR chat – just great, forward-thinking electronic music. Dark Sky have kept information about themselves to a minimum – not to be completely anonymous you understand, but more to allow their spellbinding future garage flavours to take centre stage and do the public relations for them.
Their stunning Leave on the Ninja Tune XX CD was the track that first made us sit up and take notice of them, and remixes of The xx and Stateless were soon discovered to equal elation. The whole FuGa sound (that’s future garage, and yes we just invented that ridiculous abbreviation) is approaching saturation point, with lots of perfectly nice but unremarkable tracks floating around – but these guys inject a real sense of musicality into it, and always keep it darn pretty.
