There is a Legendary bird that resides on a cluster of Islands in the South Pacific. The Kakapo seems to defy many of the so called rules we apes have used to categorise our feathered friends.
Sadly, as is our want, we as a species have endangered the Kakapo to near extinction. Even sadder is the fact that there are many more animals on the that endangered list. We chose to dedicate this collection of music to this specific bird because of its mating song. The Kakapo emits a sound that wouldn't be out of place in contemporary human music.[Listen out for the kick drum style sound in the opening minutes of this mix.] We at Culture Cuts have an affinity with all living creatures, and feel duty bound to at least attempt to raise awareness regarding the plight of some our co-Earthlings.
