Be catapulted into the Limelite at Stereosonic

Are you a DJ? This is your chance to be catapulted into the Limelite, with the announcement of the 4th annual Into the Limelite DJ Competition. Previous years have seen some amazing results, with winners going onto to take out "Best New Talent" at the Perth Dance Music Awards. Last year over 3000 fans packed out the Metropolis Fremantle to witness Perth's hottest new DJs vie for the title. This year's competition will be held at Villa Nightclub and will run over 4 weeks, with 3 heats and a final. The winner will score the opportunity of a lifetime - a set at Stereosonic Perth 2012.

To take part, upload a 20-minute mix that you would drop at Stereosonic Australia to Mixcloud. Tag your mix "Into the Limelite DJ Competition", and share it on Twitter with the hashtag #intothelimelite. It's up to you to get many people to listen to it and favorite it! Entries close Monday 8 October 2012.

Limelite and Mixcloud offer you this unique opportunity to play at Australia's biggest festival alongside some of the most talented DJs and artists on the planet. Are you up to the challenge?

How to Enter:

  • Upload a mix of no more than 20 minutes to Mixcloud. Note that entrants must be emerging amateur talents, and not residents or professional DJs. Open to single or double acts.
  • Competitors from any previous “Into the Limelite” DJ Competitions are welcome to re-enter, as long as they fit the conditions above.
  • Title your mix Into the Limelite DJ Competition
  • Tag it with Into the Limelite DJ Competition. If you fail to tag it correctly, your entry may be missed.
  • Include a picture of yourself, a brief bio, and tell us why you want to compete in this year's Into the Limelite DJ Competition.
  • Add your tracklist.
  • Share your session on Twitter with the hashtag #intothelimelite. Get as many people as possible to listen to it and favorite it!
  • Upload your mix before Monday 8 October 2012.

Judging

  • Entrants will be judged on factors including (but not limited to) number of plays, favorites, positive feedback, track selection, originality, and technical ability.
  • Mixes will be judged by the Limelite resident DJ team.

Heat Contenders will be announced on Friday 12 October 2012.

  • Heat 3 - Saturday 17 November 2012
  • Final - Friday 23 November 2012
  • Stereosonic Perth - Sunday 25 November 2012

Terms & Conditions

We will not tolerate spammy behavior on the Mixcloud platform. Do NOT post dozens of comments asking people to listen to your entry if you've never bothered to engage with them or their Cloudcasts. Do NOT favorite dozens of other entries that you haven't bothered listening to, just to get their attention. If we spot this behavior you will not win this competition.

No purchase is necessary to enter this competition. Prize is non-transferrable and there is no cash alternative. The final decision lies with Limelite. Limelite reserves the right to withdraw from this competition at any time.
