This mix explores the idea of slow/fast which I've been fascinated by in the last year. It was originally put together and recorded - with a slightly different tracklist - for the Tempo Clash party I played at in September but then a lot of the tunes weren't out yet so I held onto it and thought it'd be the perfect mix for ASG and Jay, seeing as how he's always pushing that new shit. I guess the idea for slow/fast came up with the explosion of interest around juke/footwork, the return of jungle in many people's sets/interest (thanks to juke/footwork partly) and a lot of the new music coming out which floats between 75 and 85 bpm and works at double or half time. All of a sudden it's never been easier to do mixes that fluctuate in speed, from hyperactive to low-slung, and once you throw in a lot of the beat stuff from the last few years you've got something really interesting I think. So this mix is an exploration of that within a club context but it also works nicely in the headphones.
