Some of the stickiest funk ever made. Thick, dirty horns. A small sample of funk from Chicano bands mainly from Texas. Most of these bands had relatively large regional followings in Texas. They played mainly, what is now known as Tejano music. Mexican songs put through a Mexican-American/Texan filter. Like most Chicanos of the time, these bands had musical flavorings in not only Mexican music but also American R&B. While most of the albums of the period were in Spanish, many bands always seemed to fit a tasty nugget or so of funk in their albums. This is sampling of those tasty nuggets. BTW "Cokin' & Tokin'" might be the greatest funk title ever.
