Matthew Dear Live @ Primavera Sound,Barcelona (25.05.11)

Saw this set (very similar anyway) when he supported Interpol @ O2 Academy, Bournemouth, UK, in early 2011. Hadn't heard of him before and had checked out his i-presence and thought that it might be good; it was more! Dear had augmented his set with a Live band, compete with trumpeter intent on making a Mexican-esque 'meal' of it, and it was stunning. Very clever juxtopositions of sounds, textures and genres. My date thought so too.
Interpol then came on and were as Stella ( ;o) ) as always so the whole night was great.
If Dear continues to perfom Live like this, and produce interesting work then he might be able to break it further than he has, and he's obviously a talent .... so keep an eye out on listings for him, and go check him out.
