A.C. Johner is an author of fiction, cultural journalist, and documentary filmmaker. His work has been featured in the Appalachian Anthology, Alien Skin, The Village Idiot, Dirty Cricket, Second Creation, and Mushroom Magazine. In 2006 he received the Jill Loucks Award for anthropology. He is also the director of the documentary “Electronic Awakening” released in 2011, and is currently completing an ethnographic novel on the mysticism of electronic music culture. He is dedicated to producing creative fiction, and written ethnography having to do with the shifting paradigm of human culture.
AC talked to POEM’s Thomas Janak about the documentary, shamanism, transhumanism, spirituality and reads a passage from his soon-to-be-released book: “The Mighty Mutant Mechanical Lotus”. The conversation is all about how electronic music can alter and positively enhance the human experience.
