I was listening both the new and the old Crystal Castles album and I was saying to myself 'hey you know what how can people call this new?’ It doesn’t sound much different from the stuff I am now obsessed with.
This obsession is Minimal Wave, the label and the genre. It's a kind of sound from late 70's to mid 80's that uses minimal layers, stripped down synth melodies, gothic sounding with moody lyrics. The label Minimal Wave was founded a few years back by Veronica Vasicka who made a mission reissuing (on vinyl) forgotten tracks made by d-i-y bands from this period that uses nothing more than a couple of synthesizers. These bands released at best a handful of tracks, in part as a reaction to the commercial New Wave of that time, and some of them were only available on cassette tapes, before the label came along that is. I’ve included a few current tracks to give a sense of perspective. http://soundcloud.com/xesxesloveseat/... to download Spring 2010 Uploaded 2 years ago - Featuring tracks by Felix Da Housecat, Guyers Connection, Les visiteurs du soir, Deux, Experimental Products and more Report this Cloudcast | ![]() Listeners also enjoyedEnjoying Mixcloud?Join with Facebook Do you like us? |
