Welcome to another round the world music adventure first broadcast on Sheffield Live 93.2FM. Our album of the week comes from the Hut People, Picnic, their second on the Fellside label. A truly global experience, as percussionist Gary Hammond and piano accordianist Sam Pirt take inspiration from rhythms from around the world and hutify them.
In fact this week's broadcast has a fusion focus as we look at the nominees in the Best Cross Cultural Collaboration category of the Songlines awards 2012. We also include a couple of tracks from a label new to us at GondwanaSound, KEDA who work to connect cultures around the world. Add in El Ritmo, Quantic's new project where he pulls in talented musicians from his new home in Cali, Columbia plus a banger from Batida the kudoro, Angolan Portuguese project and we have a fantastically diverse broadcast with music from all corners of the globe with a percussion and accordian focus.
