Welcome to another round the world music adventure inspired by the Rough Guide to Psychedelic Africa, our album of the week. There's such an appetite for retro Afro releases and this Rough Guide surfs the tidal wave of mmusic that has been dug up, relicensed and now fills our European dances floors some forty years and a few revolutions later.
Victor Olaiya sets the mood to be followed by a suprise discovery here at GondwanaSound, the Super Mama Djomba Band who provided the soundtrack for the 70's revolution in Guinea Bissau and fits our political and psychedelic remit for today's broadcast. Sam Parkin from the African Affairs Network talks about the DRC Dancehll night to raise money for the Panzi Hospital in Eastern Congo and awareness of issues effecting the region. We continue playing tracks from the Rough Guide plus Samy Ben Rejeb's label Analog Africa and some deep tracks from the re released Lijadu Sisters and Zam rock favourite Amanaz. httpp://gondwanasound.co.uk Uploaded 1 year ago - Featuring tracks by Lijadu Sisters, Dimba Diangola, Ebo Taylor, Super Mama Djombo, Orchestre PolyRythmo and more Report this Cloudcast | ![]() Listeners also enjoyedEnjoying Mixcloud?Join with Facebook Do you like us? |
