The art of film music I find particularly fascinating. There's something about the heightening of the tension that sound and film concoct that can be at times so utterly intoxicating. For me, the best film music maintains that tension even once the image is removed.
With that in mind I've selected just a fragment of the film music that has struck me over the years. In many ways this mixtape could have been about 10 hours long - seriously, there's a lot of amazing work out there, but rather than torture anyone with that, I figured a brief interlude in the sounds of celluloid might suffice.
I hope this simultaneously suggests some re-watchings and new discoveries. - Lawrence English
