World of Jazz presents 'Django' - A portrait of the great Romany guitar Player Django Reinhardt - Introduced by Ken Sykora - Produced by Jack Dabbs - BBC Light Programme 31st January 1956
The programme is a landmark for Ken Sykora as a broadcaster. It was one of the first shows he created. It was extremely well received at the time and helped launch his BBC radio career. The many letters he received reveal how Django fans were delighted to hear a programme on their favorite guitarist, whilst many more discovered his genius for the 1st time. That he was given this opportunity was largely down to the fact that Ken was considered the country's leading expert on Django. Musicologist and fan, Ken had a deep knowledge of Reinhardt and the Hot Club's musical output. He had written the sleeve notes for the Vogue and Decca Hot Club LPs and articles in publications such as NME. We are delighted to bring this programme to air again, 56 years later. www.themanwiththejazzguitar.comUploaded 1 year ago - Featuring tracks by Dicky Wells Orchestra, Eddie South, Django Reinhardt Quartet, Django Reinhardt Quintette, Modern Jazz Quartet and more ![]() | ![]() Listeners also enjoyedEnjoying Mixcloud?Join with Facebook Do you like us? |
