I've been DJ'ing, that's probably a slight exaggeration - I've been spinning vinyl for about 10 years. Never had a residency or played at any flash clubs, just parties and the local hip hop night's in Newbury.
Hip hop is the first genre of music which I liked that wasn't mainstream, I listened to the Wu-Tang, KRS-1, J5, Jungle Brothers, most of the UK stuff that was coming out at end of the 90's and going into the BIG 2000 & the list goes on.. I don't and have never really felt the Jiggy, R&B stuff, although, I will give anything a listen at least once.
I was probably a bit ignorant to other genres and styles of music in my early days of buying records which in hindsight was a bad move as I have spent the passed 6 years trying to get hold of records and educate myself in music that isn't hip hop. Today I'll mix anything that has a good upbeat funky vibe- breaks, hip hop, drum & bass, dubstep, reggae, funk, 80's classics, whatever. This pigeon is now out of the hole
So that's me
