This mix was inspired by the gorgeous summer months in the my new hometown. It's also kind of a homage to all the people who've been a part of my life since I've moved here, even those who have only been a part of it briefly. Though I originally set out to set a general summery vibe on this, I think it actually starts off somewhat wintery with some techy tracks, slowly warms up, and then busts out with some summery vocals before settling into a quiet groove (thanks to some killer Atjazz remixes that came out last month).
This is also the first mix I've ever made with just a laptop and controller, which was a complete joy. It was almost like learning all over again (now if I can only get Traktor to read the BPMs on DnB tracks consistently). It kind of reflects what makes summers in Minnesota so special, though. Those long winters make the summers all the more sweet. As always, enjoy.
