Coming out of Durham, DJ Illy made a return to the scene in 2010 after a ten year hiatus. As a hip-hop DJ in Seattle from 1997 through 2001, Illy was known for bringing a taste of the dirty south out in his sets. If it was taboo to play odds are he would much to the delight of his raucous crowds – even if that meant all hell broke loose and the club was shut down. Tear Da Club Up anyone?

Today the genre, crowd and location have changed but the bass hasn’t. Focusing on dubstep, drum and bass, and electro-house, Illy currently holds down a regular dubstep show Wednesday nights on diffuseradio.com and plays at venues across all of North Carolina.

As a producer/remixer and DJ, Illy is continuing to expand the electronic scene at clubs throughout central North Carolina and currently working in the production studio on his own EP to be released in Summer 2012.
