Let’s celebrate the birthday of my favorite singer/songwriter, Lucinda Williams.
Discovered her the weekend I travelled up to Maryland to celebrate graduating from college. That's right boys and girls ( do the math), it was 1995 and 25 years had passed before Chucky T got that sheepskin. My hosts were both working that Friday and I put on a CD of theirs, Mary Chapin Carpenter’s “Come On, Come On”. Loved it but was intrigued that the only song this amazing songwriter had included in her album that was written by someone else was Lucinda Willliam’s “Passionate Kisses”. Went out and bought Lucinda’s self-titled album. Played it all the way to west side of the belt-line in DC and then started looking for a music store. Found “Happy Woman Blues” and listened to that CD all the way to Richmond. Spent a good bit of time driving around Richmond until I found “Sweet Old World”. I have NEVER fallen head-over-heels for a musical artist like I did that day for Lucinda!
