Norrköping resident Per Jonsson first got involved with music at 15 years of age, playing in pop and rock bands. He gradually became more interested in computer-generated music, especially music that would combine influences of jazz and improvisation with programmed rhythms and elements. The goal of his own creation is to fuse the two together to the point where they become an organic whole and you can no longer hear the difference between live instruments and programmed parts. The ambition is to make the composed feel spontaneous - it must never be a concept or principle, there must always be an element of emotion, and also a certain accessibility. Preybird’s major sources of inspiration include artists like Amon Tobin, Squarepusher, Aphex twin and St. Germain as well as jazz musicians like John Coltrane and Miles Davis.
